Safe and Gentle Ear Wax Removal
Where comfort meets clinical expertise.
Service Description
Our ear wax removal service is designed to clear excess wax safely and comfortably, helping you maintain healthy ears and better hearing. We use the safest, clinically approved techniques, including microsuction and fine instruments, performed by trained nurses. Most people find microsuction quick and comfortable—it often feels like a gentle tickle with a soft humming sound. If your ear canal is inflamed or sensitive, you may feel some mild discomfort, but we’ll take care to make the process as easy and gentle as possible. This treatment can relieve symptoms such as blocked ears, reduced hearing, ringing, discomfort, or a feeling of fullness, restoring clearer and more comfortable hearing. What to Expect During Your Appointment •Before the procedure: We’ll start by asking about your symptoms and check your ear canal with a gentle examination using a microscope prior to any treatment commencing. This helps us decide the safest way to remove the wax or foreign body. It also highlights any infection of the ear canal. •During the procedure: -The treatment usually takes 15–30 minutes. -Once in a comfortable position you will need to remain still during the procedure -We use microsuction, which involves a tiny suction device and sometimes small instruments or forceps are used to help remove hard wax or any foreign bodies -Most people find microsuctioning comfortable and quick—you may feel a light tickling sensation and hear a wind sound. -If your ear canal is inflamed or sensitive, you might feel mild discomfort, but we’ll explain everything and stop if you need a break. -Some people experience coughing or feel the need to cough during the procedure, this is completely normal. This is because the nerve that is involved in coughing has a small branch going into the ear canal. Please make your nurse aware if you feel the urge to cough as the procedure can be paused if needed. -You may also feel slightly dizzy, this is normal and due to cold air passing over your eardrum during the procedure. This is only temporary and will pass quickly once the procedure is complete. Long lasting dizziness is not a recognised risk of microsuction. -Microsuction works best when the wax is soft. Hard wax can be more uncomfortable to remove, and sometimes it is difficult to remove all of it in one session. •After the procedure: -You should notice clearer hearing and less pressure straight away -Occasionally,ears may feel slightly sensitive for a short time -Advice will be given
